There’s A Chill In The Air

There’s A Chill In The Air

Hello and happy Sunday!

We are in the middle of October, the air is cooler, leaves are falling and autumn is upon us. What’s on your fall bucket list? Pumpkin patch? 🎃 Football parties? 🏈 Road trips?🚙 I wish football was year round, and I'm always up for a road trip!

A month ago I was talking about this journey I am on to feel better, have more energy and change some habits that are affecting my health.
Eat less. Move more.

So here is what I have been doing for this past month.  Walking 3-5 miles at least 2 times a week. When I am away from home and at my other JOB I walk a lot and I take the stairs a couple of times a day. ( 30 steps in the stair case) I drink a glass of water as soon as I wake up and I make sure I drink a gallon each day. My diet didn't really change other than the portion size. I use a smaller plate most of the time and it seems to trick my mind in to thinking I am eating a larger amount of food. 😮

So, enough with the boring stuff...what changes did I experience?  Well, nothing as drastic as losing 40lbs, or dropping 3 dress sizes but....I feel stronger. I mean I really feel stronger. A month ago when I would take the stairs at work, my thighs would start screaming about 3/4 of the way up, now...I zip right up with no problem. I have only lost a couple of pounds, but my clothes don't feel quite as tight as they did a few weeks ago. I am still enjoying dessert, but I'm keeping it with in the portion size as stated in the last post. Two cookies not 10, for example.🤪 I am happy with how I am feeling and I know it’s the slow and steady that will get me where I want to be.

I’ll admit that when I hear a friend say they lost 10lbs last week by drinking a new “gives you energy, curbs your appetite” shake or smoothie I am tempted <just a little>to try one. I mean, who doesn’t want to lose weight fast and have more energy during the day? Those are fine for others, but I know that for me it is a life style change and that is the journey I am on. I had a conversation with a friend who has taken up walking and they made a comment that they started because they want to live to be in their 70’s, 80’s and beyond. I know some of you will say that just walking won’t add years to your life, but I believe that along with controlling my portions and staying hydrated,  walking plays an important part of my overall health journey.

These small changes are making a big impact and I’m excited to see what next month looks like in terms of strength and mental well being!

If you’re on this journey with me or if yours looks different than mine, I would love to hear from you.

Have a great start to your week and I’ll be here next month!🧡

Love GiGi💕
